Cockatiels have always been my specialty and remain my favorite species to work with. I am deeply passionate about raising them because I believe they make some of the most rewarding companions in the avian world. Known for their affectionate nature, intelligence, and low maintenance, cockatiels are an excellent choice for both first time and experienced bird owners. With proper care, they can live 20–30+ years, known to make great family pets, unlike certain species that pick 1 owner, and even learn to mimic words or whistle tunes. Like any bird, they do present certain challenges. Cockatiels produce a fair amount of dander, which can affect those with sensitivities to it. They require consistent daily interaction to thrive. However, their warmth, personality, and loyalty far outweigh these considerations. Having worked with many bird species over the years, I can confidently say that cockatiels stand out as phenomenal pets, which is why they will always hold a special place at BirdsByUs.
