FAQ
-
What species of birds do you we have?
At BirdsByUs, we specialize in a wide variety of parrots, including Cockatiels, Conures, African Greys, Amazons, Cockatoos, and Macaws.
-
Are our birds hand-fed or parent-raised?
Most of our birds are hand-fed from an early age, which makes them tame, affectionate, and well-socialized. This extra care helps ensure that your new bird transitions smoothly into your family.
-
Will my bird learn to talk?
Not all parrots talk, but with patience, training, and daily interaction, your bird may learn words, whistles, and even phrases.
To encourage speech, it helps to keep your bird in a busy part of the home where it can hear frequent conversation. Playing a radio or television can also expose your bird to new sounds, words, and phrases.
However, it is important to remember that talking should not be the only reason for choosing a parrot. Each species has its own temperament, needs, and unique qualities. Always consider the overall care requirements and personality of the species you’re interested in before making a decision based on talking ability alone.

Do the birds come with paperwork or health records?
At BirdsByUs, we prioritize the health and well-being of every bird we raise. For this reason, we make the following policies clear to all buyers:
We offer disease testing for our birds upon request, at an additional cost to the buyer.
Testing is optional and conducted solely at the customer’s decision.
If a customer declines testing, they have 72 hours from the time of purchase to have their bird examined by an avian-certified veterinarian, Once the 72-hour period has passed, the purchase is considered an as-is sale, and BirdsByUs is not responsible for any health, behavioral, or medical issues that may arise afterwards.
You will receive the following:
1. Bill of Sale
2. Issued a Temporary Permit to Own (Any bird larger than a cockatiel)
3. Certificate of Ownership
4. All birds larger than a cockatiel will be leg banded for identification
These measures are in place to protect both our customers and our birds, ensuring full transparency with every purchase.

Do birds have a sensitivity respiratory system?
Yes birds do have a very sensitive respiratory system. Parrots have air sacs connected to their lungs, which makes their breathing highly efficient but also means toxins or irritants can spread quickly throughout their system.
Helpful Tips for a Happy, Healthy Bird
1. Keep the Air Clean
Avoid smoke (cigarettes, kitchen, fireplaces, or incense).
Never use non-stick cookware like Teflon pans near your bird—they release toxic fumes when overheated.
Limit aerosols, strong perfumes, and air fresheners in the bird’s area.
2. Maintain Proper VentilationEnsure your bird’s room has fresh airflow without direct drafts.
Avoid overcrowded cages in small rooms.
3. Control Dust and Particles
Clean cages regularly to remove seed dust and debris.
Maintain moderate humidity. Avoid very dry or extremely damp conditions.
5. Monitor for Signs of Respiratory DistressWatch for wheezing, tail bobbing while breathing, nasal discharge, or frequent sneezing.
If symptoms appear, consult an avian vet immediately, early treatment is critical.
